Rain Barrel : Water Quality : Erosion Control

green_main

Grounds Anderson, LLC can analyze impacts to water quality and design appropriate improvements to not only mitigate the impact but to enhance the environment and quality of life of the facility users. We have designed water quality features to remove float-able debris; capture sediment and hydrocarbons; improve channel stability reducing erosion or accretion; and incorporate aesthetics to enhance the appearance of detention ponds and provide sustainable green space.

Rain Barrel

The City of Houston now requires that some residential structures on large lots provide detention for any increase in impervious surface. We have designed mitigation of increased runoff through the use of a rain barrel for an addition to a residential structure.

Water Quality

Our personnel have designed passive systems to remove excess sediment from parking lots and material lay-down areas with the use of grit chambers and multi-bay detention facilities. We have analyzed and designed oil/water separators for light industrial sites and for a maintenance facility at Bush Intercontinental Airport.  In the City of Houston and Harris County, our detention pond designs include a flotables collection screen to remove debris from storm water.

Erosion Control

We have analyzed and designed channel improvements that incorporate stability from the loss of channel slopes due to erosion or the loss of conveyance from the accumulation of sediment. Our detention and floodplain fill mitigation pond outfalls are designed to sustain the geometry of the receiving channel.  We assisted in the analysis and development of Best Management Practices for channels within Bush Intercontinental Airport to reduce maintenance problems from sediment accumulation and around structures subject to scour.
